job in japan w/o degree 2008/12/3 21:45
My friend's bf wants to move here to Japan. They have plans to get married asap she finishes school (in about a year) She is Japanese. But he is American and he has no college degree, but has been working full-time for a company the last 5 years. Any luck of him finding a job with sponsorship w/o a degree?

A bachelor's degree or quite many years of relevant work experience (several years in case of language teaching) is a requirement by Immigration. Simply having worked in a company (I assume it is not language teaching that he's been doing) does not qualify. In his case, the easiest would be to really get married as soon as possible, then apply for a Spouse visa.

Then he will be able to live and work in Japan without any restriction. Now he does not need any employer to be his visa sponsor, but it comes down to the question of whether he has sufficient skills and experiences that make him attractive to a potential employer.
