Hi, I am planning to travel to Sounkyo Gorge in Jan. Any idea what's there to do in cold January? Would I be able to walk from the sounkyo village to the Ryusei and Ginga falls or should I rent a car? Any replies would be appreciated:)

In January, Sounkyo is covered in snow. There is a ice festival at the valley, near the bus terminal. The lights are on from 5 pm onwards till 9 plus or 10 pm. On the first day of the festival, there are fireworks.
Don't think the falls can be reached by foot when the roads are slippery. Maybe you have to hire a car or taxi.
We stayed at Hotel Taisetsu. Good view from the room.
Enjoy : )
