I would like to take the overnight train from Tokyo to Sapporo by 1) Tokyo to Hachinohe 2) Hachinohe to Aomori 3) Aomori to Sapporo (Nobinobi Carpet) However, on my departure date from Tokyo, it would be my last day of JR railpass and when I reach Sapporo it would be the next day which JR pass is not valid anymore. In this case, I would like to ask if it's possible to get the ticket in Tokyo (only if 1 day validity left) or I need 2 days for this journey.
Thank you very much

You can take all these trains only with the JR Pass' last day validity for free. --Quote-- 5. If you travel overnight on the last day your pass is valid, the basic fare will be covered as far as you travel, including train changes, until you first exit a station. However, surcharges are only covered for the train on which you were riding past midnight on the final day your pass was valid. --Unquote-- http://www.japanrailpass.net/eng/en008.htmlThe Hamanasu train leaves Aomori at 22:42 hrs. The express surcharge is fully covered according to this article.
