There's a character that has a little rectangle box on the bottom and a triangle on the top. It looks like a house to me. I see it many places. Its kind of like this

but the retangle on the bottom is more rectangle-ish. Maybe they are the same character?
I'm just curious if anyone knows. Thank you!

Hello. Don't know how much this helps, but me, I've sometimes been confused by these, who look similar, and some are even pronunced the same ("a")!

今 "ima" - now
会う "au" - meet
合う "au" - fit, coincide
谷 "tani" - valley
