Plan to be on a WHV and rent in Sapporo (hopefully by this time i'd have a job at a conversation school).
There will be no JET etc to support me.
Are there any laws against me renting on a WHV?

Of course, there are no laws preventing foreigners (even foreigners on a tourist visa) to rent an apartment in Japan.
