Sumo and Horse racing 2009/1/12 07:07
Was thinking of going to the Sumo wrestling grand final Osaka on the 29th March. Can anyone tell me what the day would start and how much the tickets would cost? Also can anyone tell link to the Osaka/Hyogo (maybe Hanshin course)race tracks? Was wanting know what time the day starts etc for the 28th March 2009.
Cheers, Liz.

Can anyone tell me what the day would start

Bouts start early in the morning with low ranked wrestlers. The second highest division and certain rituals by the highest ranked wrestlers start around 14:30, while the bouts of the highest division start around 15:30. The winner ceremony starts around 17:30, and the day is finished around 18:00.

and how much the tickets would cost?

Ticket information is here:

Note that the last day of the tournament is the most popular one and that tickets will sell out. You should try to make reservations as early as possible.

Also can anyone tell link to the Osaka/Hyogo (maybe Hanshin course)race tracks?

Here is information on race courses:

You don't have to attend the entire day of sumo and would probably get quite bored if you did. The top-ranked wrestlers start at around 3.30pm on the last day and they are really worth seeing because they are much faster and more skillful than the junior wrestlers-even if you know nothing about sumo it is more fun to watch the top wrestlers. The stadium will also be filling up by this time so the atmosphere is better. It is perfectly acceptable to turn up at a later time.

As above, the final day is the most popular so book well in advance.
