Travelling Hokkaido in mid June

I am planning to visit Hokkaido in mid-June. Just wondering if it would be a good time in terms of sight seeing, flowers, foods and weather? Indeed I will be travelling by car though I am not familiar with the cities in Hokkaido. Your suggestion and comments are always highly appreciated.

Melon is very good. You can just stop at the road side and buy from the stalls next to the road.
Furano melon is different but also sweet. Best to enjoy a half-melon topped with ice-cream!
And you may go to Yoichi (near Otaru) to farms/gardens for cherry picking.
