Rail Passes for Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka 2009/1/21 01:03
Hi,
Im making a really short trip to the 3 cities mentioned above in a weeks time. Its my first trip to japan and am getting very confused with the many options.

My intention is to take a train directly from Chubu International Airport to Kyoto directly, staying there for a night before taking a train to Osaka for 2 nights visiting Koyasan, then back to Nagoya.

Am currently considering getting the Surutto Kansai Ticket.. is this the best option for me?

Because i understand that my trips from Nagoya will be on the JR train, thus i won't be able to use the Surutto Kansai pass.

A transfer of trains is required at Nagoya Station along the way.

It would be a convenient ticket for your days in the Osaka/Kyoto/Koyasan region, although it might not completely pay off cost wise. Regular tickets in combination with a "Koyasan Free Servic" could come cheaper:

The pass is only valid in the Kansai region, which does not include Nagoya.
