Osaka -Kanazawa - Shirakawago

Is it possible to make a one-day trip from Osaka to Kanazawa and Shirakawago?
I have a plan to leave Shin Osaka in the morning and arrive Kanazawa at around 10 am. Then, I'll go to Shirakawago by bus at 13.55 and come back at 17.50.
I don't know how much I can travel like that. Is the program too tight?

It is possible, but not recommended. You would spend 9 hours on board of trains and buses, compared to meager 2.5 hours of sightseeing each in Kanazawa and Shirakawago. While that might be enough to quickly see Shirakawago, it will be only enough time to see Kenrokuen and maybe one more attraction in Kanazawa, a city which is worth a 24 hour stay at the very least.
