Japanese Tattoo Translation Help 2009/2/3 20:59
Can someone write the Japanese Name "Kodani" in Katakana or Kanji for me for a tattoo please? My grandparents say it means "Old Valley" in Japanese, I'm also wondering if this is correct...

Thanks so much!

katakana コダニ

小谷 - small valley

古谷 - old valley

If this is a family name, you should really ask someone in your family to provide the kanji, as there are several ways to render it.

Just keep in mind that to an average Japanese person, a tattoo of a name would look hilarious.

Something like having "Clarke" or "Robertson" tattooed on you for people of British descent. People would be like "why?"
