10 day itinerary

Hi all..
I am planning a holiday with my hubby to Japan beginning of June and I have the following places in mind to visit:

Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima

Would anyone be able to suggest an itinerary for 10 days? I would welcome suggestions for other nearby areas to visit also.

Also would getting a 7day JR pass make sense and when should I start using it?

There is this "suggested itinerary" section on this website - assuming you are flying in/out ot Narita, try putting in "11 nights" to get a nationwide itinerary suggestion that includes all the places you mentioned. If you skip Nikko and Kamakura, or shorten a day or two in Tokyo, you can fit everything into 10 days.

Whenever you start making a long-distance trip, such as the trip from Tokyo to Kyoto, would be when you want to activate the pass. Have fun planning!
