JLPT -any other options? 2009/2/25 06:28
Hello! I would like to know if there is any other test or exam for the japanese language proficiency- because the jlpt is held -in USA- only once a year and there is no chance to re-take it in case of bad resulst but to wait 12 month before the next one...so may be there is any other test or exam for certification?

Just to day I read in the newspapers that the JLPT will be held twice per year in Japan, China, Taiwan and South Korea from this year. The second test will be held on July 5:

There's the JBT (Jetro Business Test) that's scheduled twice a year. Whether or not it meets your certification requirements is something you'll have to investigate. However, I understand it's more difficult than JLPT.

This year at least only JLPT levels 1 and 2 will be held in July. Next year there will be 5 levels instead of 4 and probably all of them will be held twice a year.

J-Test? 2009/2/25 13:20
There is also a test called Nihongo Kentei shiken (J-Test) and it is held 6 times in a year (albeit only inside Japan and China). What about considering it as option?

There's the test of Practical Japanese.
