Kansai Travel Itinerary

Greetings all,

I will be travelling to Japan in one weeks time and have a few questions regarding travel to/around Kansai.

I intend to catch a night bus from Kawaguchi-Ko or Fujiyoshida to Kyoto.

Should I setup base here and then do day trips to Osaka/Nara/Kobe? how long does it take by train bus to each? or will it be easier to stay one night in each town?

I will be heading down to Hiroshima afterwards if that gives any clue as to what I should do.

All cities are easy day trips from Kyoto. Transportation from Kyoto to surrounding cities is explained here (use drop list):

If you have much luggage or wish to return to your hotel room during the day, it is more convenient to have a base and visit the other cities as daytrips. Otherwise, spending a night in each city would be a nice way to get to know each city by night without the need to return to Kyoto at the end of each evening.
