Does anyone have any advice/info for trying the Shojin ryori (vegetarian food) without staying at a Shukubo inn? I heard that it's delicious.

How about Fuchinobo Shojin Ryori in Zenkoji? They are reasonably priced and they offer lunch. You need to make a reservation.
