Foreign words...

I need help with a few foreign words. I believe most of the names are French.

1) jiyakobu - Jacob?
2) huiribu/fuiribu/firibu
3) gasuton - Gaston/Gauston?
4) payarotsuto/pairotsuto
5) jiyoeru - Joel?

Did you read those romanized Japanese writing? Or did someone write it in Katakana writing and you converted them into romanized writing? I am asking because the "spelling" of romanized writing is somewhat strange... but if those are all names or common nouns, then my guess would be:

1. Jacob (I would write it as Jakobu or Jyakobu)
2. Phillip (p- and b- letters may be confused by the ones who read off katakana and romanize words. I would write it as Firippu)
3. (I have no idea)
4. pilot (it should have been pairotto, but maybe they wrote out the small "tsu" in it)
5. Joel (I would write it as Joeru or Jyoeru)

I'll have to pay more attention to my romanization... Thank you for your assistance.

If time permits, I have yet another question.

Katakana:[To-ra-shi-ku-1]

My best guess is ''Tragic 1'' or ''Tragedy 1''?

Does anyone know of a website with a comprehensive list of romaji? Foreign word meaning would be best.

For "to-ra-shi-ku 1" again my guess is that it was トラック1, with a small ツ, not シ (please look at the direction of the small strokes carefully), and that it is "track 1."

Does that make sense in the context?

I could be wrong but number 3 MIGHT be:

ガャ潟塔Xタンド
gasorin sutando?
-Gas Stand / Gas Station

? Just my stab at it.

Gaston is a typical French name, so anburera has it right- it's not gas stand.

Anburera you need to work on recognising the difference between the small tsu and the large one, and the difference between tsu and shi- or the person who wrote the katakana does.

Does ''tiguru'' mean ''tiger''?

I did a search and discovered ''trigun'', but I don't think that applies to this case.

I'm also having trouble with this phrase:

早いとこ帰つてWINEが飲みてェな.

I think it says, "If we finish early, they'll let us drink wine."

Could someone please help.

"tiguru" does not mean tiger; can it be a place name?

"Loire" is the official translation for "rowaaru".

"Tiguru" is in reference to a French Air Force helicopter designation. Like "Black Hawk", for example. Sounds like tiger to me, but I looked it up and the characters don't match. Any ideas?

"tiguru" sounds like the katakana pronunciation of the French word for tiger- tigre. What a Loire Tigre might be though I have no idea- OP probably has a better idea than we do.

I see. I'm not too familiar with those names... it does sound like "tiger" in French. BTW, what I was wondering about was this:

ストーン・ティグル says (phonetically) Sutoon tiguru (the first part being "stone"), and you had "Loire - Tiguru" below. That's why I wondered what the connection between those two were, and which were the original writing you needed deciphering :)
