Aso Senomoto YH no longer ? 2009/3/31 18:03
I am desperately looking for the email of the "Aso Senomoto Youth Hostel" in Miyaji (Aso)... On their website You can click on send email: the email address provided is "senomoto@jyh.gr.jp". Emails return and cannot be delivered, "user unknow"... Anybody any idea: is the YH closed or anybody has the correct email address ? Thank for any respons !

The youth hostel seems to exist, but its name is Aso-Kuju Kogen. I recommend to phone or fax:

the best access ? 2009/4/2 16:32
Thank You Uji for Your quick respons... I already send fax and received my answer from the owner. He mentioned that he cannot drive car, so impossible to pickup at the JR station... Thats minor, but 1.what about transport from here to the ropeway ? 2.Is this YH the best for access to the sensui-kyou ropeway ? 3. or better to stay in Aso itself to organise transport for 12people ? Thanks for any reply soon !

The YH is not even located inside the caldera of Mount Aso. It is not very convenient. The Aso YH is much more convenient:

Also, is there a reason to use the sensui-kyou ropeway? I am asking because most people use the other ropeway, which is also more easily accessible by public transportation.

Miyaji as start for walk 2009/4/4 21:04
Thanks again Uji, I understood. The raison why I would stay in Miyaji is the walk mentioned in Lonely Planet Hiking Japan, from that side towards Takadake and Nakadake and further to Kijimadake and finish at Kusasenri-ga-hama... But in fact if Aso is more convienient I could do the trip in reverse... Thanks again for the tip !

I see. In that case, it does not matter which direction you travel.
