Going to Kamikhi from Takayama on May 16th. we would like to go via the Shinhotaka Ropeway to Nishihodakaguchi. Does anyone know if it's possible to walk down to Kamikhi in mid-May, not using special gear like crampons etc.?

In the normal year, the higher elevations of the hiking trail are still under deep snow in mid May.
