I am going to Japan for two or four weeks. What is a good gift to give to a host family. I can't take food or any kind flower from the U.S. or my home home state of kansas on an airline. So what is gift good gift to give to them from Kansas?

I had this same problem when I went to Japan. My Japanese friends told me that something that represents the local area is good - picture books, calendars, small framed local art, mini edibles, etc
I've also been a host family with students from Japan and they always bring me senbei (rice crackers) as well as fans, Japanese toys, or handkerchiefs, all things that are popular in Japan.
Good luck!
