Is it more worth it to buy JR west

I was just wondering if its worth it to buy JR west 1day pass for the following:-
(1) Transfer from KIX to Osaka, leave luggage at hotel, then proceed from Osaka station to Himeji using JR special Rapid.(Is JR Special Rapid covered in JR West Pass?)
(2) Travel from Kyoto to Nara? Is it worth getting JR West 1day pass.
