Kyoto - (Tokaido Shinkansen) - Tokyo - (Tohoku Shinkansen) - Hachinohe - (limited express) - Hakodate - (limited express) - Sapporo - (limited express) - Takikawa - (local train) - Furano

During summer, there are some direct limited express trains between Sapporo and Furano:

It will be a very long journey. If you are short of time, I recommend to fly from Osaka's Itami Airport to Asahikawa Airport:
