I have a simple question regarding how the JR PASS is issued. Do I have to begin my "consecutive days" on the day I exchange my voucher for the pass or can I have the pass begin on the following day? Or is it a generic pass that start after the first time it is used?
I ask because I will be arriving in Narita late on one day and do not wish to start using my rail pass that day, but it would be beneficial if I could pick up my JR Pass at the AP so I could get an early start the next morning (Exchange office in Shinjuku does not open until 9am). Thanks!

YOU will tell the JR staff at the airport when you want the pass to start. Could be the day after, one week from your arrival or even a month...
