Im going to be studying at Kansai Gaidai this fall and living in the dorms. They have futons for the dorms wich im looking forward to sleeping in.Anyways this may be a stupid question but would I need to bring sheets and a blanket for a futon? Is it just like regular matress that is on the floor that would still need bedding for it?

You need a sheet and possibly a cover/protector to put between the sheet and the bottom futon, then a futon cover for the top futon (a futon set is made up of a thin bottom futon and a duvet-like top futon, and some people put a thin base mattress under the bottom futon).
In winter you will quite possibly also need a blanket or two to go over the top futon. All can be bought here easily, and are not that expensive.
