Gift for girlfriends Mother 2009/5/31 08:00
Hey I'm moving to Tsukuba next month, and I'm going to meet my girlfriends mother for the 1st time. My girlfriend and I have been going out for just under a year now, (she lived in Ireland for 2 years and thats where I met her, she just went back home last month)
But just wondering what kind of gift i should give? in terms of size or value would also be of help?

Thank you.

Well... 2009/6/1 15:11
Sandan,

Well, it is really up to you and what you wish to spend.

As previously mentioned, sweets are always good. Local treats are a good bet.

It's a gift for mom so perhaps a nice shawl.

Go for something homey...
How about a wool throw blanket for winter use?

Simply put the Japanese are gracious in giving and accepting gifts so whatever you bring will be appreciated.
