Comment on my travel itinerary

This is my 1st trip to Japan and need some good advices here. I'll be Japan for 11 days and this is my rough itinerary. Hope the experts out there can comment on it.

Day1 - Narita to Ikebukuro
Day2-3 - Kyoto
Day4 - Nara
Day5 - Himeji
Day6-8 - Hakone
Day9-11 - Tokyo to Narita

I intend to buy a 7-day JR pass and use it from Day 2-8 and a Hakone free pass (w/o transport between Tokyo and Hakone).

Pls advise whether the time allocated is reasonable for each location.

For Day2-5, I am thinking of staying in Kyoto only and travelling to Nara and Himeji as day trips from Kyoto. ie. Kyoto-Nara-Kyoto and Kyoto-Himeji-Kyoto. Is this advisable?

First of all, why are you going to Ikebukuro? Are you staying there?

Second, I think you should definitely do Himeji and Nara as day trips from Kyoto. I've done it before and both places are easy to get to from Kyoto and you won't have to worry about changing accomodation.
