Okutama worth visiting?

My friends and I plan to go Japan sometime in April. Going to Tokyo and Kyoto.
I read that Okutama is an interesting place to visit, but I can't seems to find anything about it. here. Is it worth a visit? A day trip? Are there any interesting places there?
Please advice, thanks!
