day tours from Natita Airport

I will have a 9 hour stopover at Narita airport in December. I will be travelling with American Airlines. Can anyone advise me as to whether I am able to leave the airport to go into Narita and if there are any day tours from the Airport? Is it quite easy to leave the airport- what is the procedure and also are there storage places to leave my bags?I will be travelling alone and am an older person. I have never been through the aiport before. Many thanks
