I am going to travel from Narita Airport to Tokyo and then from Tokyo to Kyoto. While in Kyoto, I will probably do a couple day trips to the surrounding areas and not return to Tokyo for another 9 days. All these train passes are a little confusing. Would the best/cheapest way be a 14 day JR pass? Or should I buy Puratto Kodama Tickets to get there and back and just pay for the rest of the short trips separately (Narita to Tokyo, Kyoto to Himeji, etc)?
