Hi, I should originally travel from Osaka to Tokyo on August 7th, with the Shinkansen Hikari 462. However the night before I'll be in Kyoto.
So my question is, if it is allowed to use my ticket, but entering in Kyoto instead of Shinosaka, which is what the ticket indicates.
I don't want to have to travel back to Osaka only to take the train there some minutes earlier. But don't want to do something forbidden either.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks! Frosti

Assuming you have a regular train ticket (as opposed to some tour package ticket with special rules), it should pose no problem.

i do that all the time, sometimes with night trains and sometimes with shinkensan. Kyoto is after Osaka, so I don't think there is a problem.
