Info about Yamato, Kanagawa 2009/8/1 01:42
Hi, i will work at Yamato, Kanagawa for 3 months. Is it a good place to live? Does it have any decent nightlife? Do you know any good place between Yamato and Tokyo for staying?

Welcome to Kanagawa 2009/8/4 22:29
Yamato City is pretty much way out in the suburbs of Yokohama and Tokyo. It's a city with all the necessities you need, but it's not exactly an area you can expect "nightlife". Surely there are bars and restaurants, but the fancy dance clubs are in either Yokohama or Tokyo.

I'm not sure what part of Yamato you will be working at, but if you're just there for 3 months, I suppose it's wiser to live near your work place.

The Odakyu Enoshima Line goes straight through the city and it takes about 10 minutes to travel from the northern tip to the southern tip of the city. From Yokohama, there are direct Sotetsu Line trains that can take you to the center of Yamato City in 20-30 minutes until a bit past midnight. From Shibuya in Tokyo, there are direct Hanzomon Line trains that will take you to the northern tip of the city in 35-50 minutes until a bit past midnight.

I wonder if you have taken a look at the city's official website;

and the photos on it;

Hope you have fun!
