Finding a ryokan in Iya Valley,Shikoku..

We're having difficulty finding a reasonably priced ryokan or hotel in Iya Valley.
I believe there are some small ryokans there - can we just drive there and take our chances with any hope of finding one ?
Is there an organisation we can contact that lists them?

Try Japaneseguesthouses.com. Once you find the ryokan you like (there are pictures, customer reviews, and other things), they'll contact the ryokan and make the reservation for you.
