Breakfast Near Brighton Hotel Kyoto 2009/8/19 18:17
Hi, we are staying at the Brighton Hotel near the Imperial Palace soon as need somewhere decent and hopefully western (not meaning to be rude though) to have breakfast. The hotel is very overpriced...was hoping for somewhere that might have a decent breakfast and a nice setting (not just a walk in walk out). Hoping you can help : )

Hi. I see there are two of these posts! To be fair the brekky at the Keio P in Tokyo and the Brighton in Kyoto are NOT overpriced - they reflect the fact that they are 5-star hotels. - the brekkies will be VERY good! However if you want to save money there are loads of cafes around - or simply stock up and a conveneince store.

plenty of options 2009/8/20 22:02
This goes for the Tokyo question as well- basically in any Japanese city all you need to do is walk out the door of the hotel and you will be almost overwhelmed with a choice of where to have breakfast. If it's western style you are after, there will be Mcds and many other fast food chains, Starbucks plus lots of Japanese coffee shop chains, and family restaurants as well as restaurants in department stores all offering breakfast sets- this is not a country where you will ever have trouble finding food.

Alternatively, as above, go to a convenience store and take what you want back to your hotel.
