We will be stopping over in the mount fuji/hakone area and wish to stay somewhere nice on this occassion. Preferabably somewhere with hot springs. Any reccommendations?

The Hakone and Mount Fuji regions are full of hot springs and onsen ryokan. There are hundreds of them, differing widely in cost.

I recommend having a look on Japaneseguesthouses.com. You can look at pictures of ryokan and different types of accomodation, plus read reviews. They'll book the place for you for free, and you can even choose one with an onsen.
