What are the following sentences supposed mean?
1) 夏休みが終わることに絶望した 2) 買える車もないことに絶望した

1) 夏休みが終わることに絶望した I despaired that the summer holidays were about to come to an end.
2) 買える車もないことに絶望した I despaired that there was no car I could afford.

But it doesn't actually say that the subject is "I". It can be about a "he" or "she", although it's natural to assume it's about "I" if there is no context.
