It seems the tournaments are full day events with the better candidates featured later in the day. With a ticket, am I able to arrive and depart from the tournament as I wish? Not sure if i can sit through a whole day....

Yes, you can arrive and depart at any time. Most people do not come before 3pm. And it really only gets completely full (if at all) after 4pm. It ends around 6pm.
