Convenient House? 2009/11/4 17:30
Have anyone here heard of convenient housing?
http://konbini-house.com/index.html
I can't read Japanese but the rents per month seem really good since I am planning to stay in Tokyo for one month.
Have tried googling the subject but nothing much came up.
Does anyone here has any expereince of living in such accommodation before?
Is such places dodgy? Will it be safe for a young female foreigner to live there alone?
Any help will be deeply appreciated :)

I have no experience with this lodging so I cannot tell exactly what it is like, but according to the Q&A page of their site, you have to share the kitchen, living room, toilet and shower room with other residents.

Each bedroom (must be quite small as it is described as "capsul hotel type room". I checked the one in Roppingi from this site, the height to the ceiling is only 1.3m or 1.4m!) has a lock, so you can keep your privacy.

You cannot invite friends/family to the place.

Also there's no house cleaner, so the cleaning of the house and getting rid of trash must be "shared" among the residents.

Photos of the one in Roppingi. The two photos at the bottom are the "rooms" which look like boxes rather than rooms...

Each "room" does not have air-conditioner.
If you want warmth in winter, you have to open the door facing the corridor so that warm air from the air-conditioned corridor will enter your room, according to the website.

That's the information I got from the site.
Hope it helps.
