i'm thinking about getting a bread maker so I can stop complaining about lack of rye bread etc. I live outside of tokyo in saitama, and if the trek to get rye flour is too much, i know i'll never use the machine.
so, can i find it in any store? what about bread flour?
alternatively, anyone know where there are pumpernickel bagels in tokyo??

Adum, As far as I know, rye flour (rai-mugi) is sold at a lot of major supermarkets, most department store basements and natural food (organic food) shops. But your initial problem seems to be the lack of rye "bread." I wonder if that can be solved by visiting one of the many Seijo Ishii Supermarket branches in Saitama-ken, because it has been for me. http://www.seijoishii.co.jp/stor_index.html
