Can I open a Euro account?

Can I open a Euro account with my local bank? UFJ or Juroku?
I want to travel to Europe fairly long-term and want to build up a supply of Euro (especially now as the rate is really going down).
If I later need to transfer the Euros overseas, is there any problem (bar paying commission for the transfer)? Any limit to what I can transfer?

I dont know about those banks but I know HSBC have foreign currency accounts so maybe check them out. There are a few branches in Tokyo and one in Kobe.

No limit (but ask your bank...)

Actually, it's better to transfer a big amount of money. Some banks might work differently, but mine asks for a flat commission, be it 500 or 5000 euros.

Thanks, but my question is really about whether a local/city bank (e.g. UFJ, Juroku) can set up a Euro account, and perhaps would that work any differently from a usual 'ordinary savings' account.
