prepaid cell phone 2010/2/18 05:12
I was wondering, how much approximetly would cost a prepaid cell phone like softobank 740SC for example. there is no price in the net, only auctions... Just counting, how much money I might need!
Thanks in advance!

The 740sc costs 5565 yen, while their cheapest model, the 730sc, costs 4830 yen. I didn't ask about their higher end models but I think they max out at around 10000-15000 yen.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of the prepaid charge cards, 3000yen and 5000yen versions.

calling credit 2010/2/18 19:29
Good point. Softbank calling credit can be bought in 3000 yen and 5000 yen units and is good for 60 days from activation. Unlimited mail will cost you 300 yen per month, incoming calls are free and outgoing are 9 yen/ 6 seconds.

prepaid phone / recharge 2010/3/3 09:24
If you have difficulty finding a shop that has a prepaid phone in stock, you can order online here (in Japanese)-
http://onlineshop.mb.softbank.jp/ols/html/model/index_prepaid.html
No need for credit card - you pay the delivery person.

You can get the 3000 yen recharge for 2577 yen here-
http://mobilesys.co.uk/
(it is semi-English and the girls who run the service speak English)
That is the cheapest I know of at the moment

Remember that with Softbank prepaid, unlike AU (and Softbank in pre-Softbank Vodafone days) if the expiry date has passed, you can still receive calls for a year.
