One of my exchange students is graduating from 4 year University this month. Is there a traditional gift to give for that? Perhaps something like a nice pen?

No, there is no specific traditional gift I can think of, and yes, a nice pen sounds very appropriate.
But I wonder what the student is planning to do after graduation. Typically (s)he will be expected to start working. It might be nice to send something suitable for his/her new job. Just a thought.
