There are much faster and easier to learn "Sushi Schools" in California. If you study in J apn, YO u will spend three years fanning rice.

apprenticeship 2010/3/24 08:18
What the above poster means is that learning to make sushi is done by apprenticeship in Japan, not taught in courses. People who want to become sushi chefs devote years to practicing under a master sushi chef and spend the first part of their apprenticeship doing menial work.

You can work part time while on a student visa, and also apply for jobs. To receive a working visa though you will need to meet Immigration requirements- I hear that for chefs a minimum of 10 years experience is required to qualify for the visa.

How about this academy.

Lectures are Japanese specialist of the sushi and teaching.

as for apprenticeship
If you work at sushi restaurant as a pupil, you have to spend many years there.
But this is only a school, so you can learn how to prepare delicious sushi for a short term.
