How can it be used? 2010/4/16 20:04
Hey everyone!!

I would just like to know, how is ってused??

I know that It is the colloquial form of 言います、but im not sure how it can be used...

Can it be used as a colloquial form of the past form of 言っていました??

For example, just like you could say - 田中さんは"明日来ます"と言っていました
could you also say - 田中さんは"明日来ます"って??
Both meaning, Tanaka san was saying that he is going to come tomorrow.

All kinds of advice is welcome, although i would prefer an explanation from a native speaker!!

本当にありがとう!!!(^o^)

田中さんは"明日来ます"と言っていました = polite/formal.
You could also say informally - 田中さんは"明日来る"って。 You could also add 言っていたよ。
