Learning Kanji/Language Barrier 2010/5/9 08:03
I am a 15 year old who has decided to study abroad as a foreign exchange student in a few years, either as a senior or when I graduate. I have a few questions:

I am learning kanji right now. I decided to start by grade levels, meaning that I'm learning first grade kanji first, and I'm working my way up to my current grade level.
If I don't know a lot of kanji but can speak some decent Japanese, can I still get by in Japan?
Is there a website that tells me some majorily important kanji that I'd need to know before I go to Japan?

Can't wait to hear from you! :)

Kanji List 2010/5/9 12:25
I(a Japanese) personally think 1000 Kyoiku Kanjis are enough, 2000 Joyo Kanjis are more than enough for foreigners.
