Kamon information 2010/6/20 15:36
I recently returned from a trip to Japan, and was able to visit my ancestral hometown of Hinatsu-cho in Hikone. Though it was a brief hour visit, I was able to see the house of my great-great grandparents, and see our kamon,「丸に剣片」.

One of my curiosities has always been to find further information on my family history, at least to the end of the Edo period.

Since my return I've been trying to do more research into the history of the mon, including what types of families typically used it in the pre-Meiji period. Most of the information in my search has been brief at best. Someone had once mentioned that the kamon was often related to skillset and that this particular one was related to budou, but I have no way of verifying this.

I wonder if anyone could shed further light?

I don't see 丸に剣片. Isn't it 丸に剣片喰?

Top row on right.

Google or Yahoo Japan in Japanese and you'll see more result.
