Beer gift for Japanese friend

My Japanese friend is now on a vacation here in the Netherlands.
I want to give him a few cans of special Dutch/Belgium beer when he goes back to Japan.
Is this ok for the Japan customs?

Up to three 760ml (I believe) of alcohol drinks he can bring into Japan without paying any customs duty.
