Unused vacation 2010/6/24 09:26
I have read that in Japan employees can carry to the following year any unused vacation up to a maximum of 20 days but I have not been able to find what law specifies this. Does anyone know what law discusses this?
Also, does the law say anything about whether the employer is required to compensate the employee for unused vacation when the employee leaves the company or retires? Thanks.

Laws concerning employment are usually written in the roudoukijunhou. I'm can't really say that you are wording it accurately, but as for the 20 days is concerned, you can read something similar on the following website at "22 年次有給休暇 法第39条、第135条 (1)"
http://www.roudoukyoku.go.jp/seido/kijunhou/k-aramasi.htm

Municipal offices often provide free law consulting in foreign languages. Why not inquire at the place you obtained your foreign registeration card.
