Sending Cheese to Japan

We visited relatives in Japan recently and would like to ship them some Wisconsin cheese. Is it legal and possible to mail cheese to Japan? Thanks.

Basically it should be OK.
I used to receive Edam cheese from a customer in Holland.
One think you should be careful is the packaging and whether the cheese you intend to send is OK to be kept in a normal temperature for a week or so - the cheese I used to get was all covered in wax it was before Christmas so the temperature was rather low.
