Receiving prescription medications

I have a question about Japanese doctors.
I am going to be moving to Japan for work in a few months. It is with an eikaiwa service and they have not given me my placement yet.
The thing is, I have epilepsy and am on medication for it. The medication is available in Japan and I have a note from my doctor explaining my dose and problem which I can get translated.
My question is this: If I take this note to a family doctor will s/he be able to prescribe my medication (and be comfortable doing so) or am I going to need to find a neurologist?
Thank you.

A general practitioner should be able to prescribe the same med for you, I'm sure.
