I know how to ask the price of an individual item (kono *item* wa ikura desu ka). But how do you ask for the total price of a bunch of different items?

You are so polite to say "kono *item* wa ikura desu ka" Just say, "kore ikura?" For the total price, say "kore zenbu(all) de or gokei(total) de ikura (desuka)?"

well you could improvise and ask like ''sono subete ga ikura desu ka?'', although i found that ''Gokei'' is the word for ''total'' but there are still many ways to say it.

Zenbu de ikura(desuka) is best--sounds more natural to a native ear than any of the above.

Thanks for the responses. I used the polite form because that was what I've been taught so far. :)
