Where do I buy watches in Japan in terms of lowest cost? I am looking for Casio G-shock watches. Is it better to buy from the airport which is duty free but may have higher price, or in Tokyo like Akihabara?

Watches are sold in subway stations too. You might even find a bazaar or something that has cheap watches.
Akihabara would definitely have more of a selection than the airport.
You might also want to check out a buy/sell used shop chain like "Daikokuya" which is like a pawn shop. Some stuff is in mint condition at a good price.
Other stores in Tokyo: Loft Tokyu Hands Bic Camera Yodobashi Camera Yamada Denki They all should have a decent selection of watches and the one you want might be among them.

what about other brands like Seiko / citizen?
If possible i would like to buy a replacement bracelet band for my old seiko watch - it's more than 10 years old. Any suggestions as to the best way to go about this?
