Outdoor Ice Skating in Tokyo 2010/11/15 15:19
I was wondering where I could find an outdoor ice skating rink in Tokyo.

There have been questions on this site of a similar nature, but I was hoping for some recent information.

If anyone has seen/visited/heard about one last season that might be open in January 2011, it would be most helpful.

Owl,

Take your pick from any of the following...

Akasaka Sacas: 18 Nov until 14 Feb 2011
Can't seem to find any details on the official site yet, but it's widely publicized elsewhere.

Toshimaen: 18 December to 6 March 2011

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse (yeah, I know it's not Tokyo)
6 December to 28 February 2011

There was also an outdoor rink set up at Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi) last year, but it looks like this won't be happening this winter.

I have heard of an outdoor rink that is open from around Christmas until Valentine's Day. I believe it is in Akasaka. Here is a helpful link that has information on it. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2303.html It is under Akasaka Sacas.

Not Tokyo, but for those who are interested, there is also one in Kawasaki La Cittadella.

Akasaka Sacas hired skates? 2010/12/27 15:34
The site says Y1000 entry but has anyone been and know if you can hire skates or have to have your own - also anyone notice if they have larger Western sizes - this looks like fun.

Toni,

You can hire shoes as well as gloves at Sacas, and they're 500 yen each a pair.
